monday...

mondays are such a bizarre day for me. i love starting a new week, but at the same time i am still pretty tired from sunday. sundays are crazy, and they make me want to do nothing but sleep for a LONG time after it's all said and done.
met with joel this morning, meeting with mark this afteroon. writing. reading. studying. i love the men God is surrounding me with - people that i get to journey with. i'm just blown away that i get to do what i love.
so shannon and i have decided that in april we're going to start a community group at our house. but we're only going to invite people who aren't Christians. our goal - read the Bible together and talk about Jesus. believe that there is power in God's word and that nothing but good will come of an honest look at the Scriptures with those who don't know Christ. we're really excited about this!
i'm also starting to pray like crazy for this... that people will be open to coming, that we can stay focused on the Bible and not get into huge debates about dinosaurs and morality, that we would keep Jesus the central part of all we do together. if you would, please pray for us as we prepare and think through who we'll ask to join us.
i got to read a lot while i was out of town last week. i finished reading blue like jazz, read jesus in the margins in it's entirety, and read half of the cross. it really was great to have some time to read. i can't recommend the books listed above more highly. (you can click on my reading link above for more info). the cross is amazing - martin lloyd-jones is quickly becoming one of my heros. blue like jazz and jesus in the margins are written by two guys (one a member, the other the pastor) from imago dei church up in portland. both are great books for people who have been believer for awhile and need to be reminded of JESUS being the center (something we all need to here.) they're both also great books for those who don't know Christ -the Gospel is fully present and presented in a great way. if you're looking for something to read - pick those up.

The community group sounds great! We have some friends who were co-hosting something very similar up in Portland. They are our age and for the most part those who were coming were about old enough to be their parents. They said it took a bit to get used to being in the teaching role with a group of that dynamic, but that all around it has been wonderful. We shall be praying for your endevours. Keep us posted. If you need any good large group receipies let me know.
I'm quite interested in reading Blue Like Jazz. I acctually wasn't at all interested in it. Not that it looked terrible, but just lots of other things I wanted to read. But then I found out it was the same guy who wrote Prayer and the Art of VW Maintanence (sp?) and I thought I might read it afterall. I was going to go into more thoughts but the baby girl is on my lap and I now only have 1 hand to type with. :)
